Confusing closure signs on A595

RESIDENTS and motorists were left confused by conflicting road closure notices.
A section of the A595, Tippin’s Lane, was due to close last night, from 6pm, and reopen at 8am.
But the traffic management team for BT, who are carrying out the work, placed signs on the A595 last week stating the road would be closed from 8am to 6pm.
The signs, near Elliscales roundabout near Dalton, and at both ends of the closure near Kirkby, have since been corrected to show the right closure times.
A notice on the Kirkby Ireleth Parish Council notice board, in Kirkby, shows that the closure was going to be overnight, from 6pm to 8am, all along, and reveals that the first information put up on the signs was wrong.
Cumbria County Council say the road signage is the responsibility of the contractor carrying out the work.
Ian Curwen, of Moorlands Service Station, in Kirkby, said: "We knew before the weekend that the signs were wrong as the county council had told us they were closing the road through the night.
"We had a few people saying they wouldn't be able to get through to us, because of the closure, but we've been able to put them right and it's not had any impact on things."
This evening the sign had been changed again to say the road would be closed between 8pm and 6am.

I don't suppose there's any chance the council could employ signwriters who can spell!

Not only is it incorrect, there's too much unnecessary info on that sign especially when you're speeding along at 50 mph around the bends. Who cares about an apology, especially when it's spelt wrong!
