THIS was certainly a maths lesson with a difference.
Pupils at Burlington CE Primary School, in Kirkby, were joined by lambs, guinea pigs, hens and geese in their class on Tuesday.
The children were challenged to weigh and measure the animals from the Cowran Estates, Pennington. The pupils plotted their growth on a chart and weighed out their food.
The exciting numeracy exercise was part of the school’s maths week.
They also learnt about the gestation period of animals and looked at hen and quail eggs in an incubator.
The fun week included guessing the weight of a sack of potatoes, a visit from Pitstop Barrow project manager Richard Johnston who explained the importance of maths in the workplace, Beasty pet shop, a maths trail at South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Easter activities revolved around maths.
