FAMILIES and friends came together to enjoy the glorious weather during a community gala.
The annual Kirkby gala saw hundreds of visitors turning out to the grounds of the community hall in Beckside on Saturday.
They browsed stalls and exhibitions from local organisations, history groups, bowling clubs and the Kirkby Photographic Society.
A tombola, cake and card stalls proved a roaring success, with little left unsold at the end of the day.
While the youngsters kept themselves busy, parents relaxed in the sunshine, as they enjoyed Indian head and hand massages.
Then in the evening, there was the traditional gala night party.
Gail Burns, secretary of the Kirkby Community Centre, which organises and receives funding from the gala, said: “It was great, a big success. It was an excellent day, really lovely, there was a lot of happiness exuding from the field. The weather was fantastic.
