Giving it more steam

ON THE MOVE: Here’s something you don’t see every day. Today’s main picture is the steam-hauled Cumbria Coast Express passing through Kirkby station in July 1981. Doing all the work is 5407 The Lancashire Fusilier, a former LMS Stanier Class ‘Black 5’. The locomotive was withdrawn from British Railways service in August 1968 and became part of the Steamtown collection at Carnforth. It is now based at the East Lancashire Railway in Bury
