Sheridan leaves Barrow AFC

BARROW AFC have parted company with Darren Sheridan by mutual consent.

A statement on the club's website said the former joint-manager had left the club after five-years at Holker Street.

The statement said: "Following a series of meetings between Darren and board representatives in the past week, and after consultation with the other directors, all agreed that to part company is in the best interests of the club.

"The move followed allegations made to the Barrow AFC board, but it has been agreed that the investigation will not be further pursued and the matter will remain private between the parties concerned.

"Barrow AFC would like to wholeheartedly thank Darren for his service at the club since he joined in January 2007. As first a player and then as player-manager from November 2007, he has been a major part in the finest sustained spell of success in the club's 111 year history.

"Chairman Brian Keen said 'It is a very sad day, but unfortunately this is the best thing for the club and for Shez himself. We hope he finds another club soon and wish him every success in the future.'

"Barrow AFC will make no further comment on this issue."

Have your say

To all those purported Barrow AFC supporters whingeing about the Darren Sheridan affair: come on guys, give the Board & Shez a break. Both have done a great job for us, & the least we can do is allow them to handle this unfortunate matter in the dignified, considerate & discreet manner they have evidently chosen. I've been watching Barrow for upwards of 60 years & feel for the club as much as anyone, and we're all disappointed. However, we all need to remind ourselves that without their fantastic efforts in the years since the disaster of the Vaughan era, there wouldn't be a club, and I think that all parties are entitled to ask us to respect their judgment on this matter, too.

You will have around 1200 volunteers in the coming months... All raising money at the turnstiles.... Given the feeling for given his commitment and loyalty to the club over the years (no disrespect to Dave), we will be all making a charitable contribution to watch, when our better thoughts are to give it a permanent miss.

You just need to understand this Matt.. You get nothing in return for nothing in this world. Unfortunately it's a fact, irrespective of how much you harp on like an MP about it.
